The Civic Institute and Czech Foreign Ministry hosted a workshop on the “Future of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” which took place under the auspices of Minister Karel
Schwarzenberg.
Veronika Bilková, Ph.D., E.MA from the Institute of International Affairs focused on the legal aspects of the International Court of Justices’ rulings in the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Serbia. The case was brought to the ICJ by Bosnia Herzegovina who charged Serbia for the crime of genocide. The genocide charge was finally acknowledged only in the individual case of the Srebrenica Massacre of 1995, where an estimated 8000 Bosnian boys and men were killed.
Matyas Zrno from the Civic Institute recalled the particular fate of Srebrenica Massacre in his historical and military lecture. Filip Tesar from the Institute of International Affairs commented on the inter-ethnic relations in Bosnia and Dragan Štalvjanin from RFE/RL discussed the current constitutional crisis in Bosnia Herzegovina.
Over thirty participants attended the workshop including attaches, army officers and students.
