Civic Institute held a conference at the Mostov Chateau in Western Boehmia on November 2-4, 2007 titled, “Reflections on Development of Czech Conservative Politics in the 1990’s.” The conference led off with a lecture from the Czech Deputy Prime Minister and former advisor to President Vaclav Havel, Alexandr Vondra. He discussed the importance of conservative politics in the Czech Republic during the early 1990’s.
The next day, Representative Marek Benda of the Christian Democratic Party and the Civic Democratic Party spoke about the conservative policies in his political parties. He was followed by Mr. Ivan Ma¡ek, former leader of the Civic Democratic Alliance Parliamentary Group and his analysis of the party’s priorities. Former Minister of Privatization, Tomas Jezek discussed the success and problems facing privatization in the Czech Republic.
Professor Miroslav Novak, Rector of Cevro Institute a private university in the Czech, lectured the countries right-wing political parties. Finally, the conference was addressed by the Civic Institute Director, Roman Joch who discussed the future of conservative politics in the Czech Republic.
